Eligibility Criteria

Sponsor – The applicant must be sponsored by their Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen partner.
Genuine Relationship – You must prove that your relationship is genuine and ongoing, whether married or in a de facto relationship. Evidence such as joint financial responsibilities, living arrangements, and social recognition of the relationship may be required.
Age Requirement – Applicants and their sponsors must be 18 years or older.
Health and Character Requirements – Both the applicant and sponsor must undergo medical examinations and provide police clearance certificates from each country where they have lived for a specified period.
Visa Subclass Choice – The subclass 820 (Temporary Partner visa) is typically the first step, followed by the subclass 801 (Permanent Partner visa) after the relationship has been proven over time.
Relationship Duration – For de facto relationships, you must have been living together for at least 12 months prior to applying, or provide evidence of a long-term commitment to the relationship.
